The NIHR North West London Patient Safety Research Collaboration (NWL PSRC) recently hosted an event, inviting other PSRCs, stakeholders and researchers in the patient safety space. Hosted at the home of the PSRC in North West London, attendees had an opportunity to find out more about the vision of the NIHR NWL PSRC, their themes, research projects and team, seeking to find connections and identify opportunities for translation of findings into practice.

The day was chaired by Professor Bryony Dean Franklin, Director of the NIHR NWL PSRC, and featured keynote speeches from NIHR Programme Director Val Mann, Imperial College Lead Professor Ara Darzi, as well as Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust Lead Professor Julian Redhead. Presentations on each theme were delivered by the researchers working on the projects concerned, followed by an overview of their public involvement and engagement activity delivered by the centre PPIEP/EDI Lead and one of their Public Partners. The event ended with a panel Q&A session.

The day was filled with exciting offers of collaboration, connectivity and future ways to engage, championing working together to improve patient safety. In the future, the centre will also hold a “Meet the PSRC” event for the local community in North West London. This is expected to be held at a community venue, with talks from researchers and public members who have been involved in the centre’s work, to help build relationships with local community groups.
