YH PSRC’s academic visit to the Netherlands highlights future collaborations
Professor Jane O’Hara (Theme Lead) and Dr Lauren Ramsey (Senior Research Fellow) from the ‘Safer Systems, Practices, and Cultures’ theme at NIHR Yorkshire & Humber PSRC were generously hosted by Professor Ian Leistikow and his teamm for an academic visit to the Netherlands in June. Ian serves as an adviser at the Dutch Health and Youth Care Inspectorate and is also a Professor at Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management, Erasmus University Rotterdam.
The visit was inspired by shared research interests in patient and family involvement in patient safety. The Netherlands team’s work was excellently summarised in a presentation given by Ian to SafetyNet in March.
Ian and his colleagues were very generous with their time, arranging a packed agenda focused on these shared research interests and potential future collaborations.
Discussions centred on the NIHR-funded Learn Together programme, which aims to more meaningfully involve patients and their families following harm, and the aspirations within the ‘Safer Systems, Practices, and Cultures’ theme at Yorkshire & Humber PSRC.
